Hull City V Leicester City: Confirmed Lineups, Ahmed Musa Starts

Champions Leicester City begin the defence of their Premier League crown against Hull City in the season opener this afternoon.

Today’s fixture at the KC Stadium is arguably the perfect way for the Foxes to open their season, such is the level of disarray their opponents find themselves in.

Still without a permanent manager since Steve Bruce left at the end of last month, assistant Mike Phelan will take charge of the Tigers once again today.

With just 13 fit professionals to choose from today, Phelan did not have much scope for choice when it came to today’s lineup.

Injury to first-choice goalkeeper Allan McGregor means a recall for Eldin Jakupovic, while a defensive crisis that has robbed them of Michael Dawson, Alex Bruce and Harry Maguire sees midfielder Jake Livermore drop into defence alongside Curtis Davies.

Leicester, meanwhile, have no such concerns heading into the new campaign. Defener Robert Huth is suspended, with new signing Luis Hernández coming in to replace him. New signing Ahmed Musa, so impressive in pre-season, also comes straight into the starting lineup in place of Shinji Okazaki. Andy King replaces the now departed N’Golo Kanté.

In another change from last season’s usual starting eleven, young winger Demarai Gray comes in for Marc Albrighton.

Last Season: No corresponding fixtures
