Hull City have reportedly agreed a fee for 27-year-old midfielder Mohamed Diame from West Ham United, according to Sky Sports.
Hull City’s pursuit of a midfield player in this window, in particular Tom Cleverley, according to Sky Sports, has been unsuccessful up until this point but if this signing is to be finalised it gives Tigers’ boss Steve Bruce an experienced, strong and intelligent player for his midfield.
Hull already have some decent options in the middle of the park in Jake Livermore, David Meyler and Tom Huddlestone all of whom are capable in central roles. From an Irish perspective this signing indicates that Meyler will be pushed to the periphery of the team even further having only made two substitute appearances for Hull so far this term.
Diame is a brilliant signing for Hull however as they rely too heavily on Tom Huddlestone for technical ability in midfield. Their other midfield players are more direct and use pace to take on the opposition, whereas if Bruce was to combine Diame and Huddlestone then Hull would have a central midfield partnership that could combine great vision as well as robust tackling when defending.
With Diame looking like he will be coming in to this Hull City side, one can only presume there may be some departures form the KC Stadium before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
