Brighton and Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton has been nominated for Premier League manager after a fantastic first season back in the top tier.

The Seagulls confirmed their Premier League safety on Friday night with a fine 1-0 victory over Manchester United, and the side are 11th in the league table with just two matches left to play.

Players such as Pascal Gross, Shane Duffy and Glenn Murray have all played their part but the catalyst behind it all is Hughton himself. The former Ireland international is enjoying a growing reputation in English football and what he has achieved with this group of Brighton players is extraordinary.

Also nominated is Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez, who is in a similar boat with his side. Having been promoted from the Championship at the end of last season, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss has had to work largely with the same squad as last year, but the Magpies have also guaranteed their safety and even look on course for a top-half finish.

Roy Hodgson has also been nominated, although Crystal Palace still have a bit of work to do. The Eagles were rock bottom of the table with no points (or goals) from eight games when the veteran manager arrived at Selhurst Park but he has transformed their season, and one more win will keep them afloat in the league for another year at least.

At the upper end of the table, Burnley’s Sean Dyche has been included after a stellar year at Turf Moor. The Clarets have defied all expectations to challenge for Europe, and having already secured a Europa League place with time to spare, Dyche and Burnley still have an outside shot at a top six place.

The inclusion of Jurgen Klopp might come as a bit of a surprise, especially as Liverpool could still finish outside of the top four, but the Reds have amassed a formidable goal tally to anoint themselves as the great entertainers of the league.

Finally, last but not least, Pep Guardiola gets the nod for what has already been a record-breaking season for Manchester City. The Premier League champions are still on course to break the 100-point mark in the remaining two matches of the season, and Pep is included in a season in which City have been the runaway leaders right from the very start.

The vote is a public one and can be cast here.
