Watch: Wes Hoolahan Scores 35-Yard Screamer For Norwich Vs. Nottm Forest

On a day when Daryl Horgan and Aiden McGeady combined to take Brentford apart for Preston, fellow Ireland international Wes Hoolahan still managed to steal the show.

The midfielder was in action for Championship side Norwich City against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, looking to maintain their run of form and claw their way back into the promotion race.

It turned out to be an easy day at the office for Alex Neil’s side, aided by the fact that they raced into a 3-0 lead in the opening 18 minutes. The third, courtesy of Hoolahan, as an absolute belter:

Spotting Forest keeper Stephen Henderson (a fellow Irishman himself) off his line, the 34-year-old composed himself and unleashed a spectacular lob from fully 30-35 yards that gave Henderson no chance nad registering his third league goal of the season.

The opener, from Jonny Howson, wasn’t exactly a bad hit either…

Norwich ended up romping home to a 5-1 win that leaves them two points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday, and with Shane Long also netting for Southampton on Saturday it proved to be a very fruitful afternoon for the Irish lads in England’s top two divisions.
