Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan has exploded into life recently as he looks to make a big impact for club and country in the coming months.
After a tough start to life at Villa Park following a £9m move in January, the Ireland international has been in fantastic form recently, scoring five goals in as many games as Steve Bruce’s side have barged their way into the Championship automatic promotion chase.
Ahead of this weekend’s Second City derby against Birmingham City, Sky Sports complied a video montage of Hogan’s recent goals to highlight just how encouraging the former Brentford forward’s form has been in recent weeks.

You know whose attitude I love? Scott Hogan. Had a very frustrating year to all intents and purposes, but still backs himself.
Not in an arrogant way, but with bags of self belief. He’s worked hard to find some form and I hope it continues. #AVFC

Hogan’s recent showings have been so impressive, that on Thursday he was nominated as one of four contenders for the EFL Championship Player of the Months award for January.

The 25-year-old’s recent run of form also bodes extremely well for his chances of nailing down a place in Martin O’Neill’s Ireland side. With Daryl Murphy retired, Sean Maguire still returning to fitness and question marks surrounding the form of Shane Long, if Hogan can maintain this run of goals then he could well find himself leading the line when the Boys in Green come up against Turkey at the end of March.
Should that happen and if Hogan impresses in that, then he could well fins himself as Ireland’s new number nine going into the UEFA Nations League in the autumn.
