Giorgio Chiellini savaged Tottenham Hotspurs after Juventus’ 2-1 win at Wembley on Wednesday evening.
Roy Keane once famously described a scene in which Sir Alex Ferguson gave a three-word pep talk ahead of a Manchester United clash with Spurs. Rather than warn his players of the talent in the Tottenham squad or remind them of their tactical duties, Ferguson simply entered the dressing room and scoffed at the challenge that lay ahead.
“I thought I knew what the group might need, that we didn’t need a big team talk,” said Keane. “It was Tottenham at home. I thought please don’t go on about Tottenham, we all know what Tottenham is about, they are nice and tidy but we’ll fucking do them. He came in and said: ‘Lads, it’s Tottenham’, and that was it. Brilliant.”
Speaking after Juve’s comeback win over Spurs on Wednesday evening, Giorgio Chiellini spoke in a strikingly similar manner about the London side as he essentially labelled the Lilywhites as perennial bottlers.
‘It’s the history of Tottenham. They always create so many chances and score so much but in the end, they always miss something to arrive at the end. We believe in the history… The history, it’s important.’
