Impressive Record Shows Higuain Is Among Europe’s Top Strikers

Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain scored twice as his side beat AC Milan 2-0 at the San Siro yesterday.

The Argentine striker, who turns 30 in December, became only the second ever player to score 100 goals or more in two of Europe’s top five leagues with his brace against Milan yesterday evening.

The only other player to have done this; Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede scored 113 goals in his time at PSG and surpassed the 100 goal mark in the Serie A with a combination of his time at Juventus, AC Milan and Internazionale.

Higuain is in esteemed company with arguably one of the best goalscorers in Europe for the last decade or so.

Juve’s number 9 got his 29th and 30th league goal for the club last night having already totted up 71 goals during his time at Napoli. He had an incredible goal-scoring record of 71 goals in 104 Serie A appearances during his time in Naples. It was this run of good form that earned him his big-money move to last years Champions League runners-up.

Before moving to Napoli, Higuain played with European dominating Real Madrid for seven seasons, from 2006 to 2013. During this time he made 190 La Liga appearances and scored 107 times.

The result yesterday saw AC Milan’s disappointing form continue despite hefty summer spending. They have lost four of their last six games and now sit in eighth place in the Serie A.

Juventus sit in second place in the league table, level on points with Napoli. However, Higuain’s former club have a game in hand over his current outfit.

Becoming only the second ever player to score 100 goals or more in two of Europe’s top five leagues is a great achievement for the Argentine and is one that sets him apart as the high-quality goal-scorer that he has been known as for almost ten years.
