You don’t hear this everyday.
According to reports on Tuesday, Armenia playmaker and soon to be Manchester United’s newest signing, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has gone to some extreme lengths to force through his move.
With talks supposedly snagging over the final price for “Micki”, the player has taken things into his own hands, offering to contribute to the fee himself.
With Borussia Dortmund holding firm on their evaluation of the attacker, Mkhitaryan has apparently suggested he part with some of his hard earned wage in an effort to secure his “dream” move.
The free-scoring midfielder bagged 18 goals and provided 25 assists last season on his way to being named the Bundesliga Players’ Player of the Season. He can play both centrally and on the flanks and that versatility is surely appealing to José Mourinho, a manager who has long been an exponent of the rotation and adaptability.
When Mkhitaryan does arrive, it may signal an end of the road for some of Old Trafford’s fan favourites. Juan Mata and Ander Hererra could find themselves on the chopping block while Marouane Fellaini’s potential departure will be music to supporters’ ears.
