With the Karim Benzema deal now reported to have hit the skids, many media outlets are throwing their two cents at who Arsene Wenger’s Plan B is…
According to Sunday’s papers, Wenger has reportedly become frustrated over the delay in signing Karim Benzema and has begun to line up an alternative.
Yesterday, Kike Marin of El Confidencial had claimed that that alternative would be Pierre Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund.
However, today another name has hit the back pages with The Telegraph reporting that the Arsenal manager has his eyes on PSG striker Edison Cavani.
The story claims that, based on noise coming out of Spain, Cavani is Arsene Wenger’s preferred alternative, and that the Gunners are willing to pay £35.5 million to secure his signing.
Given the fact that Real Madrid reportedly want £45m for the services of Benzema, that price may yet prove to be a bargain for Arsene “I love a good bargain” Wenger.
As a whole, the deal is probably as likely as Zlatan Ibrahimovic deciding ‘to heck with it’ and heading to the UFC, but then there’s only two weeks left in the transfer window… The stories are only going to seem more and more absurd from here until one of them actually happens.
Anyone remember when the Falcao to Old Trafford story first broke last season? No?… Neither do we.
