Following a disappointing season for Arsenal in which they fell out of the top four of the Premier League, this is a crucial summer for Arsene Wenger. The Gunners are under pressure from their fans to make a statement signing as they look to keep pace with the likes of Chelsea and the Manchester heavyweights, who are set to splash the cash.

According to The Guardian and Sky Sports, Arsenal are after launching a club record bid for striker Alexandre Lacazette, who plays for Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

The France international is well regarded as one of the most dangerous frontmen in Europe, and at 26, it is believed that his best years are still to come.

Lyon would be reluctant to sell Lacazette, who has spent his entire career at the club, but the monstrous bid from the north London outfit will certainly be tempting, and is believed to be enough for them to consider the deal.

Although Lacazette had ambitions of playing the Champions League next season, he is set to be reassured by Wenger of the club’s targets to get back to the pinnacle of England and to be playing in Europe’s premier competition once again.

The reports seem confident that this is a deal that will happen, as Arsenal look to bolster their strike-force ahead of next season.
