Arsenal have made fine progress in their Europa League campaign thus far, and have still taken to scoring some fabulous goals in the competition.
The Gunners have won all three games so far in Europe’s secondary club competition, though only the 4-2 win at BATE Borisov could really be described as ‘comfortable.’
Still, the table shows that they have one foot already in the last 32, and the Gunners overcame a dogged Red Star side in Belgrade thanks to a wonderful bit of acrobatic skill from Olivier Giroud.
With time ticking away and the Gunners staring down the barrel of a goalless draw, Theo Walcott played the ball to Jack Wilshere from the edge of the box. The England midfielder played a brilliant pass back to Walcott with the outside of his foot, who then headed into the path of GIroud.
The French striker showed just how athletic he can be with a fantastic scorpion kick against Crystal Palace last season, and gave another fine example of his prowess with a wonderful overhead kick that gave Red Star keeper Milan Borjan no chance.
Arsenal held on for the vital three points that, combined with BATE’s 1-0 victory at home to Koln, see Arsene Wenger’s side move five points clear at the top of Group H.
