Galway United’s Bold New Kits Look Set To Become Crowd Favourites

With the League of Ireland First Division season getting underway on Friday night, Galway United have unveiled the kits that they will be wearing for the 2018 campaign.

The Tribesmen and manufacturers Uhlsport have gone with two bold new designs for the season, but ones that are on the way to becoming crowd-pleasers.

For the home shirt, Galway United have incorporated what they are calling a “bold Celtic band motif” across the torso, with the jersey itself keeping the club’s traditional maroon colour.

For the away shirt, the designers have once again kept it predominantly white, as was the case last season, but they have also included an a broken sash effect, broken in he centre with a gap filled by the shirt sponsor, to symbolise Galway’s sporting heritage.

Fans will get to see one of the kits in action for the first time on Friday night as Shane Keegan’s side take on Athlone Town in their season-opening clash at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Online reaction so far suggests that Galway United and Uhlsport are on to a winner with their designs for this year.

In this week’s episode of the Mixer Irish football podcast, we look back at last week’s season-opening Dublin derby and debate Graham Cummins’ controversial red card as we review and preview all of the latest League of Ireland action.
