Pundit Arena previews a massive weekend of sporting action with the latest instalment of The Weekend Forecast, in association with RNLI.

What?

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the European Tour.

When?

Thursday 4 – Sunday 7 October.

Where?

The competition is played on three different links courses, centred on the “home of golf”, St Andrews in Fife, Scotland.

Where can I watch?

Sky Sports Golf will show the action all weekend.

Why is this game so important?

Two members of Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup team are among the 168 players who will tee it up on Scotland’s east coast with Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrell Hatton taking their places in the field.

The defeated US team is represented by Tony Finau and Brooks Koepka, who will be looking forward to concentrating on his golf again after a difficult week.

Dundalk v St Patrick’s Athletic in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

When?

Friday 5 October at 7:45 pm.

Where?

Oriel Park, Dundalk.

Where can I watch?

RTE 2 from 7 pm.

Why is this game so important?

Dundalk have the opportunity to win the league if they avoid defeat in this game.

Ulster v Connacht in Pro14 Rugby.

When?

Friday, 6 October at 7.35 pm

Where?

Kingspan Stadium, Belfast.

Where can I watch?

Eir Sport from 7 pm.

Why is this game so important?

Ulster and Connacht will be looking to bounce back from their heavy defeats last weekend.

Ulster suffered their heaviest ever defeat, 64-7, against Munster at Thomond Park. They will, however, welcome back a number of key players for this weekend’s clash.

Connacht, meanwhile, were beaten 3-20 by Leinster at the Sportsground and will be looking to make amends in Belfast.

Leinster v Munster in Pro 14 Rugby.

When?

Saturday, 6 October, at 6 pm.

Where?

Aviva Stadium, Dublin.

Where can I watch?

Eir Sport from 5 pm.

Why is this game so important?

Munster will be looking to overcome a poor recent record against the Pro 14 and European champions in the Aviva on Saturday.

All eyes will be on Joey Carbery who makes his return to Dublin for the first time since leaving Leinster for the southern province.

Munster sent out a statement of intent with a record win over Ulster, while Leinster edged out a determined Connacht.

The two winners meet this Saturday at the Aviva Stadium in one of the most highly-anticipated matches of the campaign.

Khabib v McGregor in UFC 229 Main Event.

When?

Sunday 07 October at 5:30 am.

Where?

T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.

Where can I watch?

BT Sport will be broadcasting the entirety of UFC 229 from 3 am. The fight can be also be watched on Pay-per-view.

Why is this fight so important?

This is the biggest event in UFC history.

McGregor has been out of action for two years and was stripped of his Featherweight and Lightweight belts by the UFC due to inactivity.

In order to regain them, the Dubliner will have to overcome Khabib Nurmagomedov, who has a record of 26-0.

There is also a lot of personal history between the pair which makes this fight even more interesting.

Liverpool v Manchester City

When?

Sunday, 7 October at 4 pm.

Where?

Anfield, Liverpool.

Where can I watch?

Sky Sports Premier League.

Why is this game so important?

This game has been branded ‘Challengers v Champions.’

Both clubs have made fantastic starts to the season in the league, with six wins and one draw each.

Guardiola’s record-breaking side are favourites for the Premier League again this season, however, Pep has lost all three games he has played at Anfield as City boss.

Two of the most dynamic attacking trios in world football will clash at Anfield this Sunday.

The result will have a huge impact on the title race, even at such an early stage of the season.
