It’s less than six months since Manchester United broke the world transfer record for Paul Pogba and it already seems like the record could be smashed again this year.
It’s looking increasingly likely that Antoine Griezmann will join his French teammate at the Theatre of Dreams while any move for 23-year-old Paulo Dybala could potentially also enter the history books.
The Football Observatory has released a report documenting that values the game’s top players based on a variety of factors such as age, contract length, performance and marketability.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Barcelona’s Neymar tops the list with a staggering £213 million value placed on the Brazilian superstar, still just 24. Fellow member of MSN and 5-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi takes the silver medal position, assessed at just short of £150 million.
Pogba completes the top three with the report stating the former Juve man is worth £134 million pounds. He was previously named sports’ third most marketable star behind Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli and Steph Curry, king of the NBA.
Griezmann (£129 million) lies in fourth, followed by Luis Suarez (£125 million), meaning La Blaugrana’s front three now command a combined fee of just short of half a billion pounds.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane, in at number six, and Dele Alli, nine, are England’s most valuable players with the former adjudged to be worth £120 million while Alli is listed at £95 million.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Dybala and Eden Hazard round out the top ten. You can check out the full list of 100 here but be warned, Marouane Fellaini has inexplicably been omitted.
