The biggest and longest running transfer story of the summer has ended. Paul Pogba has returned to Manchester United. In his own words, he has “come home”.

As news filters out on the particulars of the deal, one thing is for sure, Pogba is now the world’s most expensive footballer. Costing Manchester United at least £90 million, this eclipses the £85 million paid by Real Madrid for Gareth Bale back in 2013.

Now with medicals completed and the paperwork finally signed, the 23-year-old France international has conducted his first official interview as a United player with MUTV.

Obviously delighted that the long-touted move from Serie A champions Juventus is finally completed, Pogba has given United fans these five sublime quotes that prove he has been worth the wait.

On why he has returned to Old Trafford:

“I want to win titles, I want to achieve things and that’s all – that’s why I came here, just to do this, to become one of the best and to win titles because I know this club has to win titles.”

On Manchester United, the club:

“This club is created to win titles, to win things, to win big things. … I am focused about this and that’s it. I’m just ready to go and work on that and just kill it.”

On what it feels like to be back:

“It was like I’d just came back home. I just went for a holiday, looks like I went for a holiday. I’ve come back home, I’m happy and I see everyone, the same persons. It’s just a great feeling, to be honest.”

On his destiny:

“I think it’s destiny, I would say it’s destiny. I was meant to come back here. I feel this. I always had this United thing in my heart and that’s why I came back. I’m happy, just happy.”

On unfinished business:

“It’s a big challenge too, just to come back to where I came from, where I grew up, where I started. I just didn’t finish what I started here so I think I came here to finish it.”

Pogba now links up with fellow summer arrivals Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Together, under new boss José Mourinho, they will try to arrest the decline of the Premier League’s most successful club.

With the incredible price the Frenchman comes with, pressure to succeed will not be long following. Given the comments Pogba made during his MUTV interview, however, it seems the young midfielder is happy, ready and eager to get to work for the place he calls home.
