Fears Grow That José Mourinho Could Resign At End Of Season [Report]

Most are in agreement that Manchester United are progressing under José Mourinho. After considerable investment, the Red Devils have moved up a level since the departure of Louis Van Gaal, winning the League Cup and Europa League last season.

While most of the Old Trafford faithful would have been happy had they been told last summer that, come January, United would occupy second place in the Premier League and be facing into a Champions League last 16 tie with Sevilla. However, few could have predicted the dominance of Man City, as they sit 15 points clear at the summit of the table having only dropped four points in 22 games.

Given the history between Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, there are obvious comparisons being made between the two managers of the Manchester clubs.

This all means that Mourinho hasn’t cut the happiest of figures in recent weeks.

According to a report by Matt Lawton in the Daily Mail, the Portuguese manager could be set to walk at the end of the season.

The former Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid supremo is believed to be spending less and less time in Manchester, with frequent trips to his London home.

According to one source, “José seems to be having third-season syndrome a year early with us.”

The report cites his spat with Paul Scholes as an example of how Mourinho is losing patience at the club, and if true, the Red Devils could be back in the market for a new manager this summer.
