Furious Reaction As FAI Release Final Statement Regarding Ireland Vs Denmark Tickets

The FAI have confirmed that tickets for Ireland’s upcoming World Cup play-off against Denmark have officially sold out.

The general sale brought about overwhelming demand for the remaining tickets, after a sizeable amount of them went in the pre-sale earlier in the week, and Irish football’s governing body have now confirmed (via a statement on Friday afternoon) that the remaining allocation was drained less than five minutes after the sale portal opened at 11am earlier that morning.

The FAI have also said, however, that all hope may not be lost for those wishing to take their place in the Aviva for the match on Tuesday, November 14th. Depending on Denmark using up their full away fans’ allocation, more tickets may yet become available.

They also advise for fans to be wary of tickets being sold via third-party means:

“The process of cancelling tickets, which were purchased unofficially, for the second leg game has already commenced and tickets have been traced to their original source.

“The FAI has a zero tolerance policy on ticket touting and will work with stadium officials and An Garda Siochana to monitor this practice.”

The response to the news that the game has offically sold out has not gone down at all well:

At the time of writing, tickets had already appeared on prominent third-party ticket sales sites, with prices starting at over €200 all the way up to over €450.
