Despite registering an impressive performance in their latest Premier League win of the new season, a 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, Chelsea supporters endured a tougher weekend than expected amid speculation that playmaker Cesc Fabregas could be on this way out of the club.

A report that originated in Spain and was reported by The Sun suggested that the Spaniard had been told he was free to leave Stamford Bridge by new boss Antonio Conte – the Italian reportedly not a fan of Fabregas’ more relaxed style of play.

The midfielder was absent from the victory on Saturday but took to Twitter late on Sunday evening to clarify that his relationship with Conte is “good” and that he has not been asked to leave the London club.

Giving the Blues a further boost, he added: “I’m fully committed to Chelsea and my only goal is to help them win football matches.”

Fabregas had been linked with Juventus and even a loan move to Liverpool in recent days amid uncertainty around his future. He has made just one substitute’s appearance in Chelsea’s three Premier League wins to date this season.

It remains to be seen, however, whether or not the 29-year-old will be content with a much-reduced role, at least for now, or whether there is more game time in his club colours ahead.
