Premier League Giants All Kept Apart In FA Cup Fifth Round Draw

during The Emirates FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on May 27, 2017 in London, England.

This evening’s draw for the fifth round of The Emirates FA Cup kept all of the remaining Premier League giants apart but did throw up a rematch of the 2013 final.

Wigan Athletic famously upset Manchester City to win the cup five years ago at Wembley and they will have to come through the Sky Blues again if they hope to reclaim the trophy this season. It’s a big ask for Wigan against the current Premier League leaders, but the League One side will have home advantage.

The only guaranteed all-Premier League clash of the fifth round will be between relegation battlers Southampton and West Brom, although Manchester United could also face top-flight opposition if Huddersfield come through their fourth-round replay away to Birmingham City on February 6th.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea will entertain Hull, Leicester City will host Sheffield United, Brighton will have the home advantage against Coventry, and Tottenham will have to travel to either Huddersfield or Birmingham if they manage to dump Newport County out of the competition at the second time of asking on the 7th of next month.

Below is a list of the full results of The FA Cup fifth-round draw…

  • Sheffield Wednesday vs. Notts County/Swansea
  • West Brom vs. Southampton
  • Chelsea vs. Hull
  • Leicester vs. Sheffield United
  • Huddersfield/Birmingham vs. Manchester United
  • Millwall/Rochdale vs. Newport County or Tottenham
  • Brighton vs. Coventry
  • Wigan v. Manchester City

All of the games listed above will take place on the weekend of the February 17-18.
