One of the biggest transfer saga of the summer has to be the ongoing tale of where Romelu Lukaku will play his football next season…
Consistent reports had linked Lukaku with a move to either Chelsea or Arsenal. However, with Chelsea now looking nailed on to sign an alternative Belgian forward in Michy Batshuayi, the Emirates certainly seems like the more likely destination at present.
However, should either side wish to do a deal, they will have to front up with a whopping £65 million bid according to Evening Standard.
It is not the first time that Everton have set a price tag for the Belgian striker in the last few months , but with Euro 2016 nearing the end and with us going deeper into the summer transfer window, we’d have to hope that this new price tag for Lukaku may be the final figure.
Although Chelsea have shown interest in their former frontman in the past, it now seems as if Arsenal are leading the charge to secure Lukaku’s signature. The Gunners are in desperate need of reinforcements in the striking department and with the disappointment of the Vardy saga, this may be a real opportunity for Arsene Wenger to sign a big name forward in this transfer window.
If Arsenal want Lukaku though, it certainly looks as if a lot of money will have to be spent – which isn’t one of Wenger’s favourite things to do.
Arsenal fans have reasons to be optimistic however as Sky Sports released a report a few days ago stating that the Lukaku deal was the most likely to go through for Arsenal this summer.
