Everton have held tight thus far in this window when it comes to selling John Stones, however now European giants PSG and Bayern Munich are interested in the services of right-back Seamus Coleman.
The Republic of Ireland international has been the epitome of consistency at the back for Everton for several seasons now and it’s no surprise that some of Europe’s big guns have come calling.
According to the Daily Star, Everton have rejected inquiries from PSG already but Bayern Munich are now said to be readying an £18 million bid for the services of the former League of Ireland man, having had their eye on the defender since January.
Coleman has a huge amount of experience in the top flight, and although it may pain Everton fans, at 26, the Donegal native may not have many more opportunities in his career to transfer to a truly world-renowned club.
For the Toffees however, losing a player of the calibre of Coleman would come as a huge blow to their ambitions of challenging for European places. With Chelsea target John Stones now looking set to stay, despite persistent bidding from Chelsea, Roberto Martinez will be desperate to hold onto his defensive pairing in order to have a successful campaign.
Closing in on 200 Everton appearances, Coleman is considered one of the Premier League’s best right-backs and it is no surprise other clubs have shown interest, but judging by the Toffees’ stubborn nature when it came to Stones, Bayern may well have a tough job getting their man before Tuesday’s deadline.
