Everton Looking To Re-Sign Barcelona Winger

Everton are believed to be ready to make a move for Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu in January.

According to talkSPORT, Everton believe they can sign the winger in a loan deal after reports surfaced that Barcelona are unhappy about the 20-year-old winger’s lack of playing time with fellow La Liga club Sevilla.

Deulofeu had been expected to fight for a place with Barcelona after being introduced to the press as a first team player, however Luis Enrique opted to send the winger out on loan to Sevilla, where he failed to feature in their opening La Liga games.

The 20-year-old admitted he was surprised that he was not part of Luis Enrique’s plans this season.

“My departure [from Barca] surprised me a bit,”

“They made me come back from Everton and then later they told me I wouldn’t get minutes.”

With the talented Spaniard failing to feature for Sevilla, Barcelona could consider sending the 20-year-old back on loan to Everton where he made 25 appearances, scoring three goals in the Premier League last season.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez rates Deulofeu as a special talent when speaking about the Spanish winger in the summer.

“He is ready to play for Barcelona because he has special talent, certain qualities that make him stand out,” Martinez said in an interview with Spanish national daily sport newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

“I was delighted when Del Bosque called him up for the friendly before the World Cup.

“They had followed him for the year he was at Everton and were able to see that he was performing to a very high level.

“It would have been good for Gerard and for Everton if he had stayed with us for another year. He would have enjoyed a bigger role in the team than I think he will have at Barcelona because of the competition he will find there.

A move back to Everton may be needed to help further develop the 20-year-old and Barcelona could be willing to send Deulofeu back to the Premier League as he appears out of favour at Sevilla. The Spanish U21 International would certainty add more pace and trickery to the flanks of the Toffees.
