Twitter Reacts As Everton Tear Manchester City To Pieces

Pep Guardiola’s difficult first season in the Premier League continued on Sunday as his Manchester City side were taken apart 4-0 by Everton at Goodison Park.

Man City went into this match looking to regain their place in the top four having slipped to fifth on Saturday, but instead were sent home with their tails between their legs as Ronald Koeman’s side turned on the style.

Goals from Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas and a first ever Premier League strike from 18-year-old midfielder Tom Daives sealed the points for the home side against a visiting defence that could be generously described as shambolic.

The fairytale continued in injury time as 19-year-old Ademola Lookman, less than a minute into his debut in injury time, added another layer of gloss to the win with a well-taken finish past Claudio Bravo after more poor away defending.

The win narrows the gap on the top six for Everton (though Manchester Untied could extend it again with victory against Liverpool in the later kick-off), while Manchester City’s hopes of winning a league title in Pep Guardiola’s first season have been dealt a serious blow.

Social media had much to digest after the game, from the 4-0 scoreline, to Man City’s defence (with particularly harsh words for Bravo), to the contributions of teenagers Davies and Lookman:
