Eric Bailly’s tackle was arguably the highlight on an otherwise disappointing night for Manchester United…
Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League tonight after a 1-2 loss at home to Sevilla. The Red Devils were unable to create anywhere near enough chances in the tie, and it was only after 78 minutes when they went 0-2 down that they sprung to life.
Lukaku’s late goal was a mere consolation, as they needed two more to steal the tie. When the Belgian found the net, there was already a sense around Old Trafford that the tie was put to bed.
Perhaps the biggest roar of the night came when Eric Bailly put in an accurate and thunderous tackle in his own area. After conceding a freak own goal against Liverpool on Saturday, the Ivorian defender could have been forgiven for being low on confidence. Sliding into a challenge in the box is always going to be risky.
Bailly executed it to perfection.

That’s as good as it got for United, who now face into the end of the season, as they look on at Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea who fly the flag for England in the Champions League.
Focus now must turn to finishing strongly in the Premier League, while the hunt for silverware goes on in the FA Cup.
