It’s only a matter of time before Unai Emery is confirmed as the next Arsenal manager – but his website seemingly couldn’t wait any longer.
The Spaniard is all set to be installed as Arsene Wenger’s successor this week after beating off competition from compatriot Mikel Arteta, but the club themselves have stayed completely silent on the matter thus far.
However, that didn’t stop a message appearing on Emery’s website, one that is linked to his official Twitter account, from saying how proud he was to be “part of the Arsenal family.”
It is not clear whether this was an official but mistimed bost by Emery’s website operators, or indeed if this was the work of hackers.
The post was taken down a short time later, as was the website, but all concerned are now one step closer to officially announcing the arrival of Emery to the Emirates. All going well, confirmation of Emery’s appointment is expected by Arsenal this week.
The former Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla manager emerged as the chosen candidate on Monday evening to the surprise of many, as up until it had appeared all but certain that former Gunner and current Manchester City coach Arteta would be offered the job.
