Eamon Dunphy has torn into Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho ahead of his final showdown with Arsene Wenger on Sunday.
The two bitter rivals will meet at Old Trafford this weekend in what will be Wenger’s 60th – and final – clash with Man United before he steps down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season.
Mourinho paid tribute to his old adversary when speaking to the media on Friday, but the RTE Sport pundit has not been impressed with the former Chelsea man’s behaviour towards Wenger down the years.
Speaking to 2fm’s Game On on Friday evening, Dunphy branded Mourinho ‘a tramp’ and dismissed him as lacking in class when compared to Wenger in the latest of what has become a long-running list of rants against the Man United boss:
“Mourinho is a no class individual.
“Whatever you say about Arsene Wenger, he has a bit of French, a bit of Gallic. He is a very intense man and I think he will probably feel the same contempt for Mourinho as a person that we all feel.
“They will go through the motions perhaps. I think Mourinho’s press conference today spoke very highly of Wenger but that’s just sentiment. Mourinho’s behaviour has been appalling, not just with Wenger but with everyone, particularly Wenger.
“He has said some very cruel things which he considers to be gamesmanship but I consider to be disgusting really. He is a tramp, Mourinho, to be truthful.”
Mourinho has said that he regrets some of the more negative exchanges with Wenger down the years, while his Arsenal counterpart has called for a peaceful end to the rivalry on Sunday.
Whether the visitors manage to leave Old Trafford with a win remains to be seen, however, as Wenger is likely to rest a number of big players with a Europa League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid to come next Thursday.
