Dundalk Export Patrick McEleney Off To A Flier In England

It’s no wonder that English clubs are becoming more and more interested in the League of Ireland, as exports continue to do the business across the channel.

Today alone, former Cork City man Sean Maguire scored a brace upon his return from injury to give promotion-chasing Preston a win over Bolton in the Championship, while ex-Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers star Eoin Doyle found the net for Oldham in League One.

However, Doyle wasn’t the only Irishman to score for Oldham today. Perhaps more significantly, Patrick McEleney marked his debut with a goal.

McEleney, who wowed League of Ireland fans with some truly special strikes in recent seasons for Dundalk and Derry City, is up and running in England.

What a day for League of Ireland exports!
