Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard is wanted by Real Madrid, who may go for the expert dribbler as soon as next summer, according to reports.
The Chelsea star was dropped for the Blues’ crucial win over Aston Villa at the weekend but still remains one of Jose Mourinho’s key assets in reviving a season which has so far seen the Stamford Bridge club struggle to put together any sort of decent form.
Fichajes.net claim the La Liga giants will aim to sign the 24-year-old, who came on for the last seven minutes against the Villans, before his value further increases and a transfer becomes impractical.
Real Madrid’s squad already features many young attacking midfielders in a similar mould to Hazard, but the Belgium international would still provide a much more substantial threat than the likes of Isco and James Rodriguez.
The obvious contenders for a place come in the form of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, who Hazard would be well capable of replacing with his devastating skill and pace. He is, however, a more diminutive option than Real Madrid’s traditional attacking options who tend to be more based around power and directness.
In this sense Hazard is more of a Lionel Messi than a Ronaldo, but in truth probably lands somewhere in between the two aforementioned players’ styles.
Chelsea are not known for selling their biggest stars easily, but if the price is right it could free up funds to strengthen this squad with another two or three world-class options, such is Hazard’s value.
This said, he is only 24 and if Chelsea were to lose him at the end of the season, they know they’ll be missing the prime of the ex-Lille man’s career to Los Blancos.
