Manchester United have this morning confirmed that 18-year-old Tyler Reid has signed for Swansea City for an undisclosed fee.
The defender has signed a three-year deal with the club and will join their development squad’s pre-season tour of Scotland later this month.
In a statement published on the Swansea website, Reid expressed his happiness at signing for his new side, as well as revealing his hopes for making a big impact at the Liberty Stadium down the line:
“I am really looking forward to a fresh challenge and getting started. I see a good opportunity to play first-team football with the Development squad here.
“I can’t wait to get started. I want to make my mark, secure a starting place for the Development squad, and help make an impact this season.
“I see myself as a quick, strong and powerful player who likes to get forward. I hope I can offer something both in attack and defence.
“Swansea play good attractive football and I think that suits my style of play.”

The full back arrived at Manchester United from the Arsenal academy in 2012, but was unable to make the first team breakthrough at the club. He did feature for Warren Joyce’s under-21s last season, but even then was primarily restricted to making appearances for the floundering under-18 side.
Reid is unlikely to be the only young player shown the door by new Manchester United boss José Mouriho this summer, with reports suggesting that Tyler Blackett and Guillermo Varela are also due to be offloaded in the coming weeks.
