Diego Costa Set To Spark Transfer Rumours Following Snap With Former Boss

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has finally returned to form this season as under new boss Antonio Conte, the Spain international has once again found his goal scoring touch.

A torrid season last term under temporary manager, Guus Hiddink, saw growing speculation during the summer that the 28-year-old was set to leave the London club. In fact, it was wildly reported that Costa was keen on a return to his former La Liga side, Atletico Madrid.

The closure of the summer transfer window finally put an end to speculation and as the weeks have passed, Costa has reestablished himself as Chelsea’s most prolific goal scorer. With nine goals in 11 games, Costa is currently the Premier League’s top scorer and with a nomination for October’s Player of the Month award, talks of departure seems like a lifetime ago.

Now however, the rumour mill is set to spark back into life as Costa has shared a picture to his Instagram account which shows him having a meal with none other than Atletico’s manager, Diego Simeone.

With the caption ‘Great reunion and great memories‘, fans are left to make their own assumptions about the nature of the meeting.

While it is very likely that the two met merely as friends to catch up, it is certainly hard not to assume there could be more to it than that. With it well known that Costa had a very recent desire to return to play for Simeone, Chelsea fans will likely now be wondering if their leading goal scorer isn’t already planning an exit strategy, perhaps as soon as the January transfer window.

The image will also likely raise an eyebrow of current Chelsea boss, Conte, and you might well expect he will demand some answers from his player regarding his intentions.

Suddenly, it would appear that Diego Costa’s future is still not nearly as a secure in London as Chelsea fans would like, particularly with the January transfer window less than eight weeks away.
