David Moyes is only in the door at Sunderland and is already looking to return to his former club Manchester United, this time with a shopping list.
Returning to Premier League management after 18 months away, following his disastrous spell at Manchester United, the Scot has gotten straight down to business.
With less than three weeks to go until the start of the new season, Moyes has wasted little time in identifying targets he wants to bring to the Stadium of Light. First on his list is Manchester United outcast Adnan Januzaj.
Moyes gave the young Belgian his first cap for United four years ago but since that time things have not gone well for the 21-year-old. Unused by Louis van Gaal, Januzaj quickly fell out of favour at Old Trafford and was farmed out on loan to Borussia Dortmund on loan last season.
A mere six appearances in six months saw Januzaj return to United, where he has languished in the reserve team ever since.
Now, with Moyes looking to build a squad that can escape the annual battle for survival, he is tipped to be interested in recruiting his former player on loan.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Moyes also revealed his ambitions for the Black Cats:
“We have a big club here we need to take forward. We need to make sure it isn’t us celebrating staying up.
“That can’t be the goal. It’s not my goal, that’s for sure.”
With a future looking increasingly unlikely at Old Trafford, a move to Sunderland could be just the thing the young Belgian needs to get his career back on track.
