Dani Alves Could Sign For Manchester United

Barcelona full back Dani Alves has declared he will play in England next season and Manchester United are favourites to land the Brazilian.

Dani Alves has decided that this will be his last season at Camp Nou and plans to ply his trade in the Premier League next season.

The full-back had been linked with a move away this summer but has stayed on for one more season.  He confirmed that this season will be last when speaking to O Globo newspaper:

“I am moving to England next year.

“I am going to play in the cradle of football. This will be my last year at Barcelona.”

The full back has been a fixture in the all conquering Catalan outfit since his transfer from Sevilla at the start of the 08/09 season and his comments will be sure to give the Premier League big boys food for thought.

Big spending Manchester United could be the first to bite, Louis van Gaal’s summer spending spree has shown that the Dutchman loves big name signings and might not be able to resist the chance to bring in the flamboyant Brazilian right back.

Whether Alves, who will be in the twilight of his career, would have much to offer the Old Trafford outfit is a probably a secondary consideration to a United side who seem more concerned with elevating their status than forging an effective playing force in recent times.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers would also be interested but you would think a player like Alves who is used to lining out in a Barcelona or Brazilian  jersey would opt for the lure of Manchester United, who are still a bigger club than their bitter rivals, despite last season’s aberration.
