With Euro 2016 in full swing, the transfer market is somewhat quiet. The major story coming out of the Premier League in recent weeks has been Jamie Vardy’s potential move to Arsenal.

The striker was remarkable throughout Leicester City’s title victory, but now the England star could be on his way to North London.

After he was left out of the England side to take on Russia in their first game of Euro 2016, Vardy is still recognised as one of the most lethal finishers in the country, and would be a major asset to the Gunners as they look to compete for honours next season.

As quoted by Italian publication Calcio Mercato, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri explained where the deal currently stands.

“We want to keep him.

“Arsenal have said that they are willing to pay the clause but he hasn’t accepted yet. It’s up to the player to say yes or no.”

The general consensus is that the Gunners need more firepower all over the field if they are to truly challenge for honours next season.

Olivier Giroud has been leading the charge up front, but if Jamie Vardy were to make a move to the Emirates next season, this burden would certainly be shared.

It would appear that the ball is very much in Vardy’s court.
