What a year it has been for Chris Hughton and Brighton. The former Ireland international took charge of The Seagulls at the end of 2014, as they languished in the Championship mid-table.
However, the 58-year-old has seen the team rise and rise. Having agonisingly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, Brighton weren’t going to make the same mistakes again. They joined Newcastle as one of the two automatically promoted teams for next season’s top flight, as they look forward to life at the top table.
This evening, Hughton’s efforts have been recognised as he has been named the Championship’s Manager of the Season.
Following a remarkable year, the former Newcastle boss’ stock continues to rise. Next up is the challenge of keeping Brighton afloat in the Premier League.
While Irish fans don’t want to see Martin O’Neill leave anytime soon, there is talk that Hughton could be a contender to replace the Derry native at some point down the line.
Brilliant achievement by Chris Hughton, got the very maximum from a lot of players we never heard of, surely a future Ireland Manager!

Delighted for Chris Hughton. One of sport’s good guys and a future Ireland manager, hopefully.
