Manchester United manager José Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge for the first time since being sacked as Chelsea manager ten months ago.

While Mourinho would almost certainly have enjoyed hero worship from the Chelsea fans before this summer, as many were aghast at sacking the most successful manager in the club’s history (twice), that was before he joined one of their biggest rivals.

Despite the conflicted nature of their feelings towards Mourinho now, he will probably be given a warm welcome on his return – and while current Blues manager Antonio Conte will join in on that sentiment, he also warned his predecessor not to expect any pleasantries on the pitch during his pre-match press conference on Friday:

“He becomes, like the players of Man United , an enemy… but only in the sporting aspect.

“I think that he was an important manager for Chelsea, with the club and the players he wrote a part of the story.

“He won three championships here and was an important man to the club.

“I think he deserves a good reception because, I repeat, I wrote with the players/staff a part of the story of this club.”

Conte also confirmed that, despite previous reports to the contrary, captain John Terry is fit to play in the match on Sunday. That being said, it remains to be seen if he plays from the start ahead of one of a three defence that has kept two clean sheets in a row in the league.

He also confirmed that Willian will have a late fitness test test ahead of the game having missed last week’s win against Leicester due to a family bereavement, Oscar looks likely to miss out as he is also on compassionate leave, and defender Kurt Zouma is to return to first team training next week.
