Fernando Torres is set to join AC Milan on a two-year-loan subject to the Spanish striker completing his medical. Chelsea are eying a move for French striker Loic Remy and according to the Mail are set to meet the striker’s £8m buy-out clause.
Torres ends his spell with Chelsea scoring just 20 goals in 110 appearances. Jose Mourinho spoke about the striker just hours before his move to Milan was announced.
“If he wants to leave, it’s because he wants to try a new life, a new club, probably a new league. To try to be happier than he was in the last couple of years”
Remy looks set to be the third striker to join Chelsea this summer after the arrivals of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba. There however could be doubts about the striker’s fitness as he failed a medical with Liverpool when he looked set to join the Reds only for a deal to collapse at the last minute.
Remy had been linked with a return to Newcastle and Spurs were also thought to be interested in the striker but he looks set to join Chelsea where he will battle with Diego Costa and Didier Drogba for first team football.
Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp spoke to TalkSPORT earlier in the summer and admitted it may prove difficult to keep the French international at the club.
“I think he really wants to play Champions League football next year somewhere.
“We gave him time off after the World Cup but I think he’s really looking to move. I would be surprised if he was at QPR at the start of the year.
“If he goes to the right team, he’s capable of scoring 15 to 20 Premier League goals next season.
“If nothing comes along I’m sure he will be back here. He had a contract, a good contract, here.
The French international has a buy-out clause of £8 million that only applies to clubs that finished in the top four last year and Chelsea are set to pick up the French international for a low transfer considering the fact that Remy scored 14 goals in 26 appearances for Newcastle last season.
Remy is certain to leave QPR and with many Premier League after vying for the French striker’s signature this summer £8m looks a potential steal. However doubts will remain about the striker’s medical history but it seems that this has not put off Chelsea who look set to take a gamble on the striker who failed to convince the Liverpool medical staff due to reported problems with the strikers knee.
Jose Mourinho is set to have a choice of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba , while Loic Remy could be his third striking option. Chelsea fans will hope that this trio will score regularly for the Blues after the indifferent form of Samuel Eto’o, Demba ba and Fernando Torres last season.
