Liverpool may not be the only club in the transfer market looking for a new left back as reports suggest Chelsea are eyeing a £22 million move for Switzerland international Ricardo Rodriguez.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is looking to strengthen his back line before the transfer window closes and believes the Wolfsburg left back would be a great addition to the side.

As it stands, Cesar Azpilicueta is the only experienced left back the Premier League club have following the recent departure of Baba Rahman to Bundesliga side Schalke.

If Conte manages to sign the 23-year-old, it could be bad news for Chelsea veteran Branislav Ivanovic, who could find himself relegated to the bench so Azpilicueta could return to his normal position at right back.

Since joining Wolfsburg in 2012, Rodriguez has made 125 appearances for the German side, scoring an impressive 13 goals during that time.

Arsenal and Real Madrid have shown interest in the Swiss international for some time now, with no indication if the defender is looking for a move this summer as of yet.

Chelsea are also in the market for Liverpool target Jonas Hector, but that move now looks unlikely with the German international signing a new contract with Cologne only last week.
