Chelsea are reportedly getting ready to jettison star striker Diego Costa in a bid to make room for Everton target Romelu Lukaku.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via ESPN), Blues boss Antonio Conte is offering the Spain international to Serie A sides Napoli and Inter Milan, thus making room for Everton’s 23-year-old former Chelsea striker, Lukaku.

Napoli are currently looking to fill the void left by star striker Gonzalo Higuain’s move to Juventus and with the huge fee the Argentina international commanded, the Naples side have now apparently shown an interest in bringing Inter captain Mauro Icardi to the club.

Were a deal to be made between the two Serie A giants, Costa might well be set for a move to Milan, as replacement for the departing Icardi.

The intertwining of deals at this late stage of the transfer window is such that anything is possible. Costa could well end up in Serie A, or just as easily he may be found lining out for Chelsea next week.

However, with reports that the Stamford Bridge club are stepping up their efforts to sign Lukaku, it does appear that Costa might be surplus to requirements.
