Rumour has it that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is keen to land Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger, but faces serious competition to secure his signature.
Chelsea are one of number of sides looking to land Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger, according to the Express. The German had previously been linked with Manchester United while the player himself spoke highly of the Red Devils and English football in general.
“Of course I am aware of the interest from Manchester United. They are definitely one of the top clubs in Europe and they are in a league I have been dreaming of. The Premier League is very physical, intense, breathtaking and with a lot of goals. My focus, though, remains on playing for Stuttgart. For now, I just have to try and progress as a player.”
At this stage the usual suspects are being talked about as possible destinations for the 21-year-old with Juventus, Bayern Munich and Monaco all keen in addition to the Premier League duo. Oddly enough West Ham United has also been touted as a possible home; the Hammers are rarely mentioned in this exalted company.
In terms of real developments as opposed to rumours Ligue 1 side Monaco had a £12 million turned down over the summer but with all the sharks circling you would have to think that the unfashionable Bundesliga club, Stuttgart, will struggle to hang onto the youngster.
