Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte was in Italy this past weekend to take in Torino’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina, fuelling speculation the manager is interested in bringing goalkeeper Joe Hart to Stamford Bridge.
While the reason for his attendance hasn’t been verified, The Mirror have indicated that Hart could be a possible target for Conte in light of the recent turbulence surrounding current goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The 29-year-old is currently on loan from Manchester City following the arrival of Pep Guardiola from Bayern Munich. The change in staff and the signing of Claudio Bravo from Barcelona during the summer prompted a loan move, making it clear Hart was surplus to requirements at the Etihad.
Despite a mistake on his debut for Torino in September, Hart has been solid for the Italian side ever since, continuing that form in Torino’s 2-1 over Fiorentina on Sunday.
As for Chelsea, their defence has come under scrutiny over the past two seasons and the arrival of Hart could bring some much-needed experience into the fold and kickstart their season.
While most of the speculation around Conte’s visit was pointed towards the England No.1, two targets tipped for a future in the Premier League, Torino forward Andrea Belotti and Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic, were also in action on Sunday – as pointed out in The Sun.
