Celtic Robbed Of Victory By Most Blatant Dive You’ll See All Year

Referees need to get these things right the first time. Examples like this are the reason why players attempt diving. There is nothing on, the player is moving away from the goal yet still inside the area. “I might try and fool the referee.”

SPL champions Celtic were 2-1 up against Ross County late on in today’s League clash, and looked to be cruising to yet another routine victory.

However, the Bhoys were denied the win after Alex Schalk took a dive while in the geographical region of Erik Sviatchenko’s leg, and referee Don Robertson awarded the penalty.

Brendan Rodgers was incensed after the game (via BBC).

“It’s a very disappointing end to a game we dominated throughout.

“We had good control and then the points are taken from us by a horrendous decision. I’ve seen some bad decisions up here but that’s one of the worst.

“Referees have a tough job but I don’t know what he was seeing. The linesman needs to help him or else why are they there?

“There’s no way Erik Sviatchenko makes any attempt to get the ball.”

Ross County manager Jim McIntyre attempted to defend his player, but he was fooling nobody.

“Alex is expecting contact and he’s on his way down when the defender pulls out. It’s not a penalty and I can fully understand Celtic’s anger and disappointment.”
