Brilliant Celebrations After Ireland Women’s Team Claim Draw With European Champions

The Ireland women’s national team are hot on the heels of qualification for the 2019 World Cup. Colin Bell’s side have made a blistering start to their Group 3 campaign, seeing off Northern Ireland and Slovakia with 2-0 wins.

Last night they travelled to the Netherlands to take on the reigning European champions. After a spirited display, they earned a hard-fought draw, which leaves them level on points with the Dutch.

The draw sees them sit joint-top of the group, and in a solid position as they look to push on and finish in the top two.

Given that they are yet to play at home so far in the campaign, being joint-top is an impressive return for Bell’s side.

Following the tie, the team were in a joyous mood, and rightly so considering their achievements.

The FAI posted this video showing the post-match celebrations, and it looked like serious craic.

Next up for the Girls in Green is a pair of home ties against Slovakia and Netherlands in April.
