Watch: BT Sport Powerfully Sum Up Importance Europa League Final Now Takes On Following Manchester Attack

Manchester

Tomorrow evening, Manchester United and Ajax face off in the Europa League final – an event anticipated by millions around the world.

However, the events in Manchester last night have put things all in perspective.

The decision has been taken that tomorrow’s final in Stockholm will go ahead as planned, as the event will act as a tribute to those who lost their lives, and also as a message that attacks such as last night will not break the spirit of the city of Manchester.

BT Sport’s Jake Humphrey, as part of the build-up to the game, spoke powerfully and passionately about how this football match can help us remember those who have passed, and also send out a message of unity.

“Hours since children were targeted in an unforgiveable, incomprehensible attack, this match, which does go ahead tomorrow evening, takes on the role of a symbolic event; an event offers an immediate opportunity to pay our respects, an event that makes it clear that Manchester – honest, open, warm, considerate, multi-cultural, magical Manchester, will not be cowered by terrorism.

“This is now an event that becomes irrelevant. It is no longer about silveware, but it is about football, because football defines Manchester right across the world.”

This is brilliant:
