An Aston Villa fan vented his frustration at the club’s poor start to the season by throwing a cabbage at under-fire manager Steve Bruce.
In a dramatic night at Villa Park, Bruce’s side equalized in the last minute to make the game 3-3 before Glen Whelan missed a penalty that would have won the game.
Addressing the cabbage incident, which occurred before the game even started, Bruce said:
“I find the whole thing hugely disrespectful.
“To say it’s disappointing is an understatement for a club like this.
“Before we had even started as well…
“The guy who is being questioned…unfortunately, it sums up the society we are in at the moment.
“There’s no respect for anyone.”

Villa were cruising at 2-0 up thanks to goals from Jonathan Kodjia and on-loan Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham.
However, the game changed when captain James Chester gave away a penalty on the 55th-minute and was subsequently sent off.
Ex-Villa man Daniel Johnson fired in the spot-kick and from a useless rock-bottom-of-the-Championship outfit, Preston suddenly turned into world-beaters.
Paul Gallagher was introduced and scored with his first touch as he sent a free-kick past Mark Bunn who has handed his first start of the season ahead of the error-prone Orjan Nyland.
Then with time running out Lewis Moult thundered in a header after the visitors had gone close on numerous occasions to take the lead.
As boos and jeers rang around Villa Park and all sections of the famous old ground joined in with chants of: ‘We want Bruce Out’, Villa were thrown a late lifeline.
Five minutes of stoppage time went up on the board and Villa won a corner which Yannick Bolasie bundled home.
When Birkir Bjarnason was fouled in the box, Villa won a penalty which allowed Whelan the opportunity to turnaround an incredible night and spare his boss Bruce a further barrage of abuse – and potentially save his job.
His weak spot-kick was easily saved, though, and while Villa escaped with a point, that’s now eight teams out of 11 that Villa have failed to see off.
The cabbage throwing incident, although strange, can sum up what the majority of Aston Villa fans think of Bruce, who believe he is not the right man to restore their club to the Premier League.
