PSG Obliterate Current World Record Fee For Barcelona’s Neymar

After a summer of speculation, it has been confirmed that Neymar will leave Barcelona to join up with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

It was confirmed on Wednesday evening by Sky Sports that the five-year deal is worth as much as £450 million, which encompasses £515,000-a-week in wages and a £198m buyout clause, which Barca have insisted must be paid in full.

The crazy money which has been paid out thus far in the summer window pales into insignificance compared to this move, which will see the world record fee move from £89.3 million for Paul Pogba last year to close to the £200m mark, an increase of over 100 per cent.

The fee may be difficult to fathom, but PSG will be banking that he could be a huge asset not only on the pitch in the future but also off it.

Last season the Brazil international scored 20 goals for the Camp Nou club in all competitions and provided 27 assists. If he can transfer this kind of form to Ligue 1, he should clean up in the French capital.

The 25-year-old has his best years in the game ahead of him. PSG going to the latter stages of the Champions League will be crucial in him becoming a viable candidate for the Ballon d’Or, but now that he’s clear of Messi’s shadow it’s a target that’s certainly realistic given his natural ability.
