Incredible news breaking this morning as various reports have announced that Chelsea are set to hijack Manchester United’s deal for Barcelona forward Pedro.
The Spanish international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for what has seemed like an eternity at this stage, however today it seems all the speculation was futile.
Sky sources are now reporting that, not only are Chelsea favourites to do the deal, Manchester United have pulled out of the race completely.
BREAKING NEWS: Sky Sources – Manchester United drop interest in signing Barcelona forward Pedro #SSNHQ

According to The Guardian, one of the most reliable outlets for transfer stories, United had been keen to get the deal across the line earlier this week with Ed Woodward flying to Barcelona to seal the deal.
However, Chelsea’s late move for the player stalled proceedings and many are now speculating that Memphis Depay’s performance (on the left wing) for United last night, may have led Van Gaal to decide that he does not have a starting slot for Pedro.
If Depay is to consistently start for United on the left rather than in the number ten role, they will have adequate support in the form of Ashley Young. Another hint as to United’s logic has also been circulating in this morning’s papers after several outlets reported that The Red Devils have launched an astronomical bid for Thomas Muller.
If Sky Sources are correct, as the tweet above suggests, then it looks like Pedro will indeed be heading to Stamford Bridge rather than Old Trafford.
One has to wonder however, where exactly the World Cup winner will fit in under Mourinho? All summer long the news surrounding Pedro’s potential Barcelona exit has focused on the fact that he wants to be play more football.
Chelsea already have, arguably the best player in the league on the left wing in the form of Eden Hazard while Willian and Juan Cuadrado both operate on the right.
