Bray Wanderers host St Patrick’s Athletic in tonight’s televised fixture. Stephen McDonnell is here to preview the Premier Division clash.
The saints have come out on top in both fixtures so far this season, each game producing plenty of goals, pats have won 3-1 and 3-2 so far this season against Alan Mathews’ side.
Bray’s last league outing saw them go down 2-1 at the hands of Bohemians, although this defeat saw Bray bring a depleted squad to Dalymount Park due to a suspension and injury crisis. For this week’s game Bray welcome back Ismahil Akinade, David Cassidy and Dave Scully from suspension.
Michael Barker who has missed the last two games through suspension is a doubt having picked up an ankle injury in training. Also doubts for the game are Philly Hughes (thigh) and Eric Mc Gill (Groin) while Rob Maloney is suspended. Ahead of the game Bray boss Alan Mathews said his side wanted to give a good account of themselves and that he hoped his side would get the right result.
Liam Buckley’s side make the short journey to the Carlisle Grounds with their hunt for European football at the forefront of their minds. Buckley will give both Derek Foran (flu) and Kenny Browne (back) late fitness tests, but apart from those two players the saints boss has a fully fit squad to choose from.
Ahead of the game, Pats’ captain Ger O’Brien spoke to www.stpatsfc.com and had this to say,
“Bray will be fighting for the points for different reasons. But we know well from the last few seasons, it’s never an easy game out in the Carlisle Grounds. We’ll go out with the same attitude though in trying to win the game and hopefully we can get the win.”
Kick-off on Friday night is at 7.05 and it is this week’s live game on RTE 2.
