Bruce Arena’s USA were in action against Mexico on Sunday night looking to put some distance between themselves and Panama in the CONCACAF World Cup playoff spot.
Facing group leaders Mexico in the Azteca, they made the perfect start after just five minutes when Michael Bradley had the vision to spot opposition goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa off his line, and despite being closer to the halfway line than the box, saw fit to unleash a strike that looped right into the net.
The Toronto midfielder, formerly of Roma and Aston Villa, caused an almighty stir on social media with the brilliantly-executed screamer.

Unfortunately for Bradley and the US, however, they were unable to build on their lead and Real Sociedad winger Carlos Vela combined with Javier Hernandez to level the score just over fifteen minutes later.
The draw keeps Mexico six points clear of Costa Rica in second, while the USA will need to improve their results if they are to keep Panama at bay as they aim to put a turbulent year behind them and seal an automatic place in net year’s World Cup.
