Borussia Dortmund Manager Has A Right Pop Off Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj

Once regarded as the greatest prospect to have emerged from Manchester United’s youth academy in over a decade, Adnan Januzaj’s Old Trafford career now seems far more likely to flop than take flight.

Having sporadically impressed over the past two seasons under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, Januzaj apparently elected to join German club Borussia Dortmund back in August under the impression that he would gain more regular playing time in the Bundesliga.

However, after five months with the club, Januzaj was not selected to start a single league match under Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel.

Speaking about the Belgian’s time with the club after Januzaj had apparently forced his way back to Manchester last week, Tuchel criticized the young attacker for not showing enough desire during his time at the Westfalenstadion.

Speaking with Bild Tuchel said:

“It is a pity he did not show the desire and attitude you need to progress at his age. My feeling was that he never was completely with us, that a part of him always stayed in Manchester and he compared everything here with United. We were not able to help him to shake that off.”

It will be interesting to see where Januzaj’s career goes from here after Tuchel joins a long list of detractors to have questioned the Belgian’s attitude. Unless he pulls up his socks and gets his mind right, it seems very likely that Januzaj’s career trajectory will follow in the steps of the troubled Ravel Morrison.

Van Gaal said this week that he still believes in Januzaj’s talent and, after the attacking midfielder impressed for Manchester United in the league this season prior to his loan departure, it may not be entirely unfathomable for the Iron Tulip to give him another chance in the first team.
