Shamrock Rovers midfielder Greg Bolger has taken exception to criticism of his performances on RTE’s Soccer Republic this week.

Drogheda United legend Declan ‘Fabio’ O’Brien was particularly blunt in his assessment of Bolger’s performance in last Friday’s defeat to Bohemians, branding his showing a ‘disgrace’ and suggesting that the former Cork City man should be offering to hand back his wages after his display in the loss in Tallaght.

Bolger took to social media on Tuesday to call O’Brien out on his comments and calling on the analyst to keep his criticism constructive:

This in turn led to something of a brief back-and-forth between the two, in which O’Brien stood by his words on Monday night.

Rovers’ form went from bad to worse on Monday night with a surprise 1-0 defeat to Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds, their fourth Premier Division defeat from five and a result which leaves them five points behind Waterford in fourth place.
